Make a newspaper effect for Reels and Shorts.
A highlighted phrase stays in focus while printed pages flash around it. This is a text match cut. Use it to introduce a topic, connect two scenes or give a title a little momentum.
1. Start with a short phrase
One word or a phrase of two to four words works well. Try “a fresh start” or “make it happen”. A long sentence needs smaller letters and is harder to follow on a phone.
Try “a fresh start” ↗2. Find the right pace
Start with eight cuts per second and a four-second clip. Slow it down if you want people to read the surrounding text. Speed it up for a quick transition. Use the frame strip to inspect individual pages without playing the whole sequence.
Choose Press for a warm newspaper feel, Studio for cleaner typography or Ink for a dark page. Dynamic framing shifts the phrase slightly between cuts. Locked framing keeps it centred. Shuffle pages to try a different sequence without losing your settings.
3. Set up a vertical video
Select 9:16 for Reels, TikTok or Shorts. At 1080p, your file measures 1080 × 1920 pixels. Keep additional captions away from the highlighted phrase when you add the clip to your final edit.
4. Export and add it to your edit
Select MP4, then “Export video”. Watch the finished clip and download it. Import the file into your editor like any other video. Trim the start or end to line up the cuts with your music.
The Paper rustle sound follows the page changes. Choose No sound if you want to use your own audio. If your browser cannot export the selected format, try WebM or a recent browser that supports video encoding.
CUTROOM creates fictional printed pages, rather than searching for real articles containing your words. Rendering happens on your device, and your text stays in your browser.
